#3 Lake Akan Fun Maker
Lake Akan has a compulsory education school where children from 1st to 9th grade (third year of junior high school) learn every day and grow together with their schoolmates.
As introduced in the previous article, life at Lake Akan is a little different from living in the city, and the same can be said for student life. There are many initiatives that are unique to Lake Akan, such as community learning in the great outdoors and discussions on issues such as deer feeding damage that can be seen because of the nature is your neighbor.
On the other hand, there is no high school in Lake Akan, so children have to leave Lake Akan when they go on to higher education.
This time, we would like to introduce the `"Lake Akan Fun Maker'' a volunteer group in the town that plans and carries out fun events for children who have limited time to live in this special place.
What is ”Lake Akan Fun Maker"？
They are a group of adults who come together to plan seasonal events for the children of Lake Akan who live far away from the city and have fun together, such as Christmas, Halloween, and etc.
Of course we want the children to have fun, but one of the characteristics of ``"Lake Akan Fun Maker" is that the people who are doing it are having fun too!
Summer festival with local fire department!
This year, they had a summer event in collaboration with the local fire department.
Despite the bad weather on the day of the event, many children from the town came to join.
At the firefighting booth, people can take a commemorative photo with a ladder truck and experience the water discharge.
At the summer festival booth, there were nostalgic game "smart balls" and kitchen cars, and both adults and children seemed to have a good time.
The fishermen's association also provided "Lake Akan Lake Lobster", and at the tasting party, some people enjoyed the Lake Lobster while getting a lecture on how to eat it.
At the end of the event, a "bucket brigade" was also held, and both adults and children were mixed and everyone got wet and showed a heated battle.
Halloween and Christmas are also exciting!
Last year on Halloween, we paraded around the mainstreet with costumed children and held a stamp rally.
Adults with sweets prepared are waiting at the shops in the mainstreet to welcome the children.
During Christmas, an event was held in collaboration with the school.
Santa handed out presents to each child, and the children seemed to be very happy.
At both events, we were able to hear how happy the adults were when they saw the happy faces of the children.
The staffs of the Lake Akan Fun Maker are working out ideas every day to have fun with the children in the town.
It is a great effort to liven up the town of Lake Akan while sharing fun with others.
The more fun the people living in a town are, the more attractive it will be to tourists.
And for the children who are the future of the town, the childhood spent here is irreplaceable.
We hope that the town will come together to bring excitement to the seasonal events, so that the memories of the time spent at Lake Akan will be full of fun and happiness.
