The autumn leaves are withered and the Lake Akan Onsen area, where Kamuy Lumina is held, is one of the fastest areas in Japan to enter winter.
We will have a very cold and long winter from now on, but you can still experience a lot of outdoor activities here! Hokkaido may come to your mind as the best place for skiing and snowboarding, but in fact, there are a lot of different activities available in winter as there are in summer!

From the beginning of the year, Lake Akan will begin to freeze over, allowing visitors to enjoy fun experiences on the frozen lake.
The most popular content is "Wakasagi (pond smelt) fishing.
Lake Akan in winter has one major feature.
That is the appearance of colorful tents popping up all over the lake!
These tents are actually tents for the wakasagi fishing experience.
The largest tents are equipped with a wood burning stove, so if you purchase firewood from the local staff, you can enjoy the fishing experience while keeping your body warm!
Lake Akan's wakasagi are smaller than those of other places and their surface is very clear.
If you pick one up, you can take a good look at their beautiful appearance!
And since the fishing rods are equipped with several hooks, you may get lucky and get a few fish, so be sure to give it a try!
You can have your catches and make wakasagi tempura at the nearby restaurant "Umi-hei"!
Thanks to the clean quality of the water, wakasagi is completely free of any cloying taste, and a little salt is enough to make it delicious!

In addition to the wakasagi fishing experience, other vehicle-based experiences such as snow buggy, banana boats, and snowmobiles are offered.
